First World War internee Paul David Hartog in front of an internment chalet, Douglas Camp, Isle of Man

Scope & Content: The chalet plaque reads: '3650 P.D.Hartog, 3839 W.Koltzow, 4718 C.T.Wenk.' In addition the glass plate is marked 'Hartog'. This corresponds to 3650 Paul David Harlog [sic - possible transcription error] in the Douglas Camp Daybook. Red Cross number: 39560. Next of kin: Erna Hartog, Frau Hermine Ullman, Bamberg i/Bayern, Hainstrasse18. Arrived Knockaloe 31 July 15. Aged 22 in 1915. (Douglas Camp Daybook confirms transfer from Knockaloe to Douglas). From a Jewish family history website: Born Berlin 15 June 1893. Wife: Erna Hartog. Son Gert Bruno Hartog born 1924. Paul David Hartog was deported from Berlin to the east 19 Feb 1943. He was murdered in Auschwitz prior to January 1945.
