First World War internees inside an internment hut, Knockaloe Camp, Isle of Man

Date(s): ?1918

Scope & Content: Pillow case or cushion decorated (possibly embroidered) with dachound dogs. In the early part of the First World War dachounds had been attacked as part of the anti-German protests because they were considered a German breed.

The ship model 'Berger Wilhelm' on the shelf was a well known German salvage vessel. She was seized by the French at Patras in 1917. This would suggest that at least one of the men was a crewman.
