First World War Internee Wilhelm Reibstein behind an Internment Chalet (Main Building in background), Douglas Camp Isle of Man

Scope & Content: number on glass plate appears to be 4228 withe name Reibstein which corresponds to 4228 Wilhelm Reibstein in the Douglas Camp daybook. The camp daybook records his arrival from Knockaloe on 20/12/1915 and his departure for Spalding & repatriation via Holland 9/3/1918.

This concurs with his record on ICRC database on which he has two Red Cross Prisoner information bureau numbers: 166639 and 584C. His age in 1918 was 33, next of kin: Professor Reibstein, Furstenau, Hannover. Full name Wilhelm Freidrich Karl Herman Reibstein. He is first recorded on a list of prisoners at Gibraltar, with local camp number Gib.252, same next of kin. This records him as an army reservist with Inf Reg 75.
