First World War Military Parade, Knockaloe Camp, Isle of Man

Scope & Content: Royal Defence Corps, Protection Company, 1916-19. Troops wear issue great coats with 1903 pattern leather bandoliers and belts. The bayonets are Canadian Ross Rifle MK1 pattern, (MKIIs had a sharp cut down point to them - information provided by Baz Quilliam, January 2023).
The plate is annotated 'Lord Raglan reviewing'. Raglan can be seen about halfway down the left hand line with Homburg style hat.
The event is an investiture at Knockale, reported by the Peel City Guardian, Saturday, January 26, 1918; Page: 13.
Soldiers of the guard formed a square & were inspected by Lord Raglan. Major Quayle & Mr Atkin then received decorations on behalf of their deceased sons, who had been killed in France.
