First World War internee theatrical production Die Rabensteinerin, Knockaloe Camp, Isle of Man

Date(s): ?1917

Scope & Content: Glass plate marked: Welsers

This is a group from Die Rabensteinerin (identified from other images in this series). The review in Lager Zeitung 10/5/17 states: 'The two Welsers ( Herr Bogelsack and Herr Wrede ) ... were competant performances.'

Welsers were a powerful patrician family who controlled the finances of the Hapsburg Empire in the middle ages. They may be the two characters on the left who wear chains of office.

There is apparently only one Bogelsack on the ICRC database: Hermann Bogelsack recorded as repatriated from Spalding 11.1.19.
