The dissertation which sets out to give a broad insight into Ruskin's mercantile family background, to highlight his alarm over social injustice and explore his subsequent attempts at alternatives, such as the founding of the Guild of St George, his support of Egbert Rydings's home-spun woollen mill at Laxey, Isle of Man and his championing of the Langdale and Keswick linen industries, also a Yorkshire textile enterprise, George Thomson's industrial partnership at Woodhouse Mills, Deighton, near Huddersfield. Also includes family tree of John Ruskin writer & philosopher.
