The dissertation is about the priest John, who lived at Keeill Woirrey, Corrany Valley, Maughold. There is a runic inscription on the cross fragment (Kermode 114/115; Manx Museum 144/145) found at the site of Keel Wire now located at Imago Churchyard that names the priest John. The dissertation examines the differing interpretations of the runic inscription in the past and present, ecclesiastical connections and cults, and the signifigance of slab as a documentary source.
