Half-submerged ship Burscough Abbey at The Point of Ayre

Scope & Content: The hull of the ship was made from concrete due to shortages of steel during the First World War. Around 1925 she was scrapped at Preston, all of her engines & machinery were taken off and she was floated to the Point of Ayre where she formed the base of the loading jetty for gravel.
