Interview with Edward ('Ned') Maddrell and Jack Maddrell speaking Manx Gaelic

Scope & Content: There is discussion among the interviewers and preparation for the recording they are about to make. The interviewees are introduced together with Benainshter Maddrell (who does not speak).
They are asked about when they were young boys living in Cregneash; a brief discussion of whether seaweed was collected and used in the Isle of Man as it was in Nalban and Nerin; Jack and Ned learned Gaelg from the old people when they were sent as 'guillyn drid' on 'messages' for them; what they think of y Ghaelg' is Gaelg Jiass better than Gaelg Twoiae.
Ned points out that while fishing off Nerin Jiass the Manx and the Irish speakers were able to understand each other; a discussion and description of Dr John Clague, author of the Manx Songbook; Douglas Faragher tells the interviewees stories he heard from his grandmother; Jack is asked whether he worked on the fishing boats (Ned sometimes answers for Jack); fishing; church and Sunday school; Douglas Faragher says he married in a Manx language ceremony at St Matthew's Church in Douglas.
The interviewees are asked if they know certain words in Gaelg such as freayll farrar; if they have heard of the custom or myth of myrrh cheet my vlaa; and if they have ever heard the song Ben Juan Tammy collected by Dr John Clague.
They return to the subject of how much Gaelg was spoken in Ned and Jack's childhood; whether it was spoken on the fishing boats or not; Jack is asked how old he was when he first went to sea and was he very sick at first; and there is a discussion about what he did after leaving the fishing.
