Scope & Content: Tim Quayle talks to Walter Clarke about Douglas Bridge Stone Yard, formerly 7 St Georges Street, Douglas, which is shortly to close.

Track 1: Mr Quayle talks about materials; tools; techniques and processes and gives a tour of the yard's buildings. He mentions Tom Murphy; Goldie Taubman and Hall Caine memorials which were made in the workshop in the 1930s; granite from Stoney Mountain; marble from Pooil Vaish; box tombs in the workshop; Col. Kniveton and Dhoon Quarry; Dhoon granite in copings of houses at Little Switzerland, Palatine and York Road; Manx Electric Railway as transport for materials; Portland, Beer, Runcorn stones; Irish granite; Welsh slate; Scarlett limestone; Walton Stone used for original war memorial at Douglas Head; Aberdeen granite; St Bees sandstone; Whitehaven white stone and Bath stones in yard; St Mary's church; old coach house in yard and Major Caesar Bacon of Seafield, Santon who owned it; John Edward Corlett's headstone; Ned Cowell's unusual stone working techniques; masons working on St Matthew's church; Dan and Dick Lawton; slate tanks used by Okells brewery supplying beer to internment camps; Mount Rule House and the Cowell family who lived there before the First World War.

He talks about wages in his father's time in 1895 and Irish immigrant labour; St Maughold Cross. Walter mentions that the Manx Museum would like to receive any tools for its collections. Tim talks about Mr Tickell, the new owner of the yard; advertisement board for Isle of Man and Liverpool Steam Packet Company and the Liverpool agent Thomas Blackburn and the Manx Line.

There is a discussion about the technique used to place the soldier on top of the Douglas War Memorial (carved by Harry Hems and son of Dorset who also carved Knox memorial).

Track 2: Walter Clarke and another man talk about testing equipment (seems to be precursor of a different interview with 'Abigail').
