Scope & Content: Track 1: Monologue by Mr Kelly of Garwick and Baldrine about his time on the fishing boats when he was a boy. He talks about Mr E.B. Christian mending the engine in a biplane that landed in Baldromma Farm and how he worked with Christian on the fishing boat the 'Kitty' (an ex-lifeboat) which they were crew on. He talks in detail about the 'Kitty' including the masts and sails; its launch from Garwick Bay and sailing to Maughold; hot water supply; navigating through fog; lobster pots and netmaking; camouflage nets for the Second World War; type and cost of tobacco; preserving and dying the nets.

He tells a long story about when he was fishing on the 'Kitty' with his grandfather and Wilf when they were caught in a gale.

Track 2: Mr Kelly continues his story about the 'Kitty' in a gale. He then reminisces about Garwick and Baldrine; the demise of Garwick Glen; the ride on the Manx Electric Railway from Derby Castle to Groudle and Garwick Station; walk from Garwick Station to the main road; Manx opinion of the motorcar; Garwick Glen boating lake and tennis courts, Garwick Glen Hotel and café, the wishing stone, bridges and waterfalls, smuggler’s cave, the maze and tearoom, pleasure boats; caves (legend of Duchess of Gloucester hiding in one) and the ‘grand fissure’; other beaches and caves towards Laxey; the headland path to Groudle and Clay Head with seabirds; clay pits used by Laxey miners to affix candles; powder house (demolished); gorge; Lonan Old Church (St Adamnan’s) with Celtic crosses; Cloven Stone; Sunday School; the smithy with Mr Cain; Garwick ploughing matches. He ends with a rhyme about the Kellys of Lonan and his grandfather’s sayings.
