Series of random memories about her father Tom Vulley living in a sod cottage; Mrs Goldie's chair; wheat straw better than gorse for cooking soda cakes; Mary Gilrea using a bundle of branches as a windbreak; a brick house now occupied by Quayle, with cowhouse at one end and living quarters at the other.
