Scope & Content: Clusters of thatched cottages near streams; open ditches; old barrel; Coffey's Spout; barrel; pungeon or water-cart; stone-built trough; piped water: people were against it; shallow wells emptied daily; water diviners; auger; open type wells; lumps of lime dropped into wells to purify water.. Finished wells: cribs. St Jude's brickworks; wires to cut wedge-shaped bricks; sheerlegs. Use of a winch to get water. Village pump was often a ship's pump: Sulby; Andreas; Colby; Kirk Bride; Ballaugh. Wooden pumps (with drawings): Pine View, Sulby Glen; Johnnie Christian. Lift and Force Pumps: tank in attic; storage tank made of slate slabs on low roof or at the back of a house. Animal troughs: granite; slate flags; wooden. New method for accessing water around 1915: Messrs John Clague and Sons, Ramsey.
