Scope & Content: These resources document Vick's wartime service as a driver and mechanic in Africa, Egypt and Germany with the 8th Army.

Contents include hia record of service, soldier's service and pay book, soldier's release book, war department driving permit, briefing update from Battle HQ Eighth Army, certificate of transfer to the army reserve (December 1946), souvenir postcards and photographs, a page of coloured brigade formation signs (8 May 1945), booklet 'A Short History of the Seventh Armoured Division October 1938 to May 1943' and several army newssheets. These newssheets consist of the 'Eighth Army Weekly' (24 August and 14 September 1942, 26 April 1943), 'Eighth Army News' (4 May 1943), 'Tunis Telegraph' (12 May 1943), 'Union Jack' - the newspaper for the British Fighting Forces (25 November 1943), 'Jerboa Journal' (27 June 1944), 'Coggage' Organ of 22nd Armoured Brigade Signals (28 June 1943), 'Kiel Journal' (3 November 1945) and 'The Scimitar' - the Essex Yeomanry's Own Paper (December 1945).

Administration / Biographical History: Vick was born on 7 September 1921. Gunner Joseph Kenneth Vick RA (Lt A A) 1806221 enlisted at Deepcut Barracks as an apprentice motor mechanic and served with the Royal Artillery from 21 May 1941 until 18 December 1946. He served with the Manx Regiment (15th LAA) from 29 January 1942 until 20 September 1942 when he was transferred to to 41 LTAA Bty.

His army papers name his father as Frederick Richard Vick of Main Road, Kirk Michael.
