John Surtees, TT (Tourist Trophy) rider

Scope & Content: John Surtees is the only man ever to win a World Drivers’ Championship on two and four wheels. He first competed in the Isle of Man Tourist Trophy (TT) in 1954 on a Norton and went on to win six TT races, his last win on the Isle of Man being in the 1960 Senior TT on an MV. In 1960 he also became the first man to win the Senior TT three years in a row.
Having won three 350cc and four 500cc World Motorcycling Championships between 1956 and 1960, after the 1960 season, Surtees turned to racing in cars and won the 1964 Formula One World Championship, driving for Scuderia Ferrari.
He died aged 83 in 2017.
