Scope & Content: Track 1: Joan Radcliffe talks to Violet Ritchie about her service and experience of the Second World War. She describes how she volunteered with the Auxiliary Territorial Service (ATS) in Britain in 1940 and subsequent training and experience working in camps; mother sending her kippers from the Isle of Man; girl who borrowed her jacket was killed by shrapnel; visiting London during the war; disbanding after D-Day.

Track 2: She talks about being posted in Douglas; her family, including her brother Alan who died as a Japanese Prisoner of War. She recalls civilian life and her time working in the Isle of Man and Britain after the Second World War; marrying a Manxman, living in Manchester and then returning to the Isle of Man; and her memories of Second World War internees in the Isle of Man.
