She talks about her childhood during the Second World War in Bradda, Port Erin; Clague’s tripe shop in Douglas; Mrs Harrison’s sweet shop; grandmother’s cottage in Bradda and her shop ‘Granny Cannell’s’; women in Manx politics; schooldays at Castle Rushen School from 1949; going to secretarial college and working for the Isle of Man DHSS; St Catherine’s Church and Ballafesson Methodist church; Port Erin internees including female descendant of Wagner; position and job opportunities for women in the Isle of Man now and after the Second World War; ‘The Wakes’ holidays in the Isle of Man after the war; superstitions; Janey Griffin of Fleshwick Farm; goods delivered by steam train and delivery vans in Port Erin, including Maddrells and Cregeens, and weekly coal deliveries; playing music at Southlands retirement home.

Track 2: Joyce recalls how, with John Bethel, she helped to buy, open and fund raise for the Port Erin Arts Centre in 1971 (then called the Isle of Man Bank Concert Hall) and Sir David Wilson later helping plan the art gallery at the Centre.
