Miss M Cubbon & Corporal Potts
Date(s): mid-late 19th-early 20th century
Creator(s): Warburton, William Henry
Scope & Content: The belt buckle worn by Corporal Potts has the number 106 and title 'Bombay Light Infantry'. The regiment was subsumed into the Durham Light Infantry in 1881, so the photograph must predate this. The 106th Regiment was on garrison duty on the Isle of Man in 1876.
Martha Cubbon married William Potts at Malew church 17 April 1877. The two appear together on the 1881 Census living in County Durham with Potts shown born in that county and Martha born Isle of Man. William appears to have had no military service so Corporal Potts is possibly his brother John.
