New Bond Street, Douglas
Date(s): 1897
Creator(s): Frowde, John James
Scope & Content: On the back of this photograph Frowde writes, 'This view of New Bond St, from a plate taken by me about 1897, shews Cain's window, and, just at rear, no 9 still a baker's shop, at that time, I think, Bell's. Note the wheel of the hoist on the side of the house. St Matthew's Hall centre, when it functioned as such. The gable of the 'King Orry' Inn R centre. When I took this photo, some 37 years ago, New Bond St was still a considerable business locality. But in earlier years, two occupants, at least, of no 9 were able to amass handsome competences in this old street. See also S.III/2'.
