South Quay, Douglas
Date(s): 1932-1934
Creator(s): Frowde, John James
Scope & Content: On the back of this photograph Frowde writes, 'Seawards from the back-to-back houses in this print, there was formerly a row of houses, with small gardens in front, and Woodhouse Terrace, a century and more ago, was a select residential area. Here lived Dr Burman, and Lady Bessborough [Bilborough?], a friend of Lord Byron. If they wanted a bath, there was plenty of water in the sea. There was doubtless other things they wanted but had to do without: - but which every inhabitant of Pulrose Park can have the enjoyment of today'. [? quotation in Latin?]
