The daughter of Liverpool merchant William Claxton and Eliza Boardman (Eliza was the daughter of Robert Boardman and Jane Heywood of Windsor Cottage, Douglas and Robert Boardman was an Isle of Man Lloyds agent, involved with Holmes Bank). Gertrude is the mother of Frank Gill and wife of Henry Corlett Gill.
