Scope & Content: This is said to be a photograph of a painting which was in poor condition. It is believed to be of Elizabeth Smith. She was married to Jospeh Smith who was the British Consul in Venice. Her brother was the British Ambassador at Constaninople- John Murrey. He is said to have died at her home in Venice whilst travelling back to England in 1770. (See Manx Worthies by A W Moore (1901) second edition. Page 154.
