Scope & Content: On the back of this photograph Frowde writes, 'Near top window (outlet) for long that of the room inhabited by Pierre Jean Joseph Henri Baume. Thence he was wont to lower a tin can for snails collected for him by boys. With the gasteropodons molluscs and spring cabbage he concocted the ghastly mess he chiefly subsisted on. And Thomas Henry Royston was one of those who kept him supplied with snails'.
