Scope & Content: On the back of this photograph Frowde writes, 'Lower Church Street. The old house, left centre, was known in my early days as 'Black Bobs' Robt. Corkill, shoemaker and grandfather of Mr Jno (?) Corkill of the Union Mills, formerly ironmonger in Ridgeway St. The home has the type of attic window, formerly common, but, since the removal of the East side of Great Nelson St., this is one of the few remaining.
