Scope & Content: On the back of this photograph Frowde writes, 'Site of the Salvation Army Citadel. Own plate c.1898-1900. Corner of Church Street and Hanover Street (now part of Lord Street.) Right, Cain's Toffee Shop. Centre, old house while still occupied. Left, the Schooner. Next, further on, was the 'Brig'. This house had five windows in the front upper stories, the 'Schooner' four. The 'Brig' was demolished about 1887 and made way for the new schools'. Additional note: 'Cain's toffee shop; - ancient house, while occupied, and Schooner; all forming site of the Salvation Army Citadel'.
