Scope & Content: On the back of this photograph Frowde writes, 'First opening of the huge cellar under 'The Old Fort' in Fort St. Doubtless an annexe to the Fort on the Pollock rocks. See photo in Route 1 of Series. This cellar E wall, blocked by the subsequent erection of the Sheffield Hotel, had iron barred windows and probably looked out onto the beach. They were high in the wall, and would light the floor at one time. Length of cellar from Fort St. 75 feet. See details by Mr. Teares plan to scale in feet.
