Old Coole the Grocer's house, Douglas
Date(s): n.d. [1932-1934]
Creator(s): Frowde, John James
Scope & Content: On the back of this photograph Frowde writes, 'Not what I wanted to get: old Coole the Grocer's house & shop (centre) with the huge 'ton' slates it still bears as it did when Jas Crellin the Grocer had his place just opposite, at the top of North John St prior to the building of Victoria St. To get what I desired I should have stood below - Athol St & in centre of the road. Experientia 'does it'. More, it was a dull day, & the light getting too poor for an ordinary film'.
