Scope & Content: On the back of this photograph Frowde writes, 'Rear of Grand Theatre. Wall of old Assembly Rooms in Fort St., with primitive bulnose at a time when the sea washed against the wall. In the 1868 survey there is shewn a glacis-like stone arrangement at this point [sketch] with three sets of stone steps from the back doors onto the beach. 1" from L is the back of the little cottage in cobbled yard, approached by entry under the Assembly Rooms. The bulnosed wall is actually that of the cottage yard. This for rear of 'Frenchman's House film. Print given to Mr P.W. Cain'.
