Date(s): n.d. [1932-1934]

Creator(s): Frowde, John James

Scope & Content: On the back of this photograph Frowde writes, 'New B St taking down the 'Fisher girls' house' No 11. Light poor; sun low & foreground therefore shaded. Matt Cain's bakery I find was (in the family) founded in 1839. Mr Hyde, Press Agent in the E side of the Almshouses in Alms H Lane, gave me to read (Nov 16th/32) a copy of Johnson's Advtg. Circular 1859 and Robert Cain, having just taken over the business, states that his father had founded it 20 years previously'.
