Scope & Content: On the back of this photograph Frowde writes, 'I think I have the bearded figure at the water-edge in the crowded view of the market place about that time on the Quayside. QV whole plate. (matt print?) That will date this photo, 1887. Mr Pooter of Grossmith's Stores to the life, only Pooter went to the seaside in a straw hat of this shape and a frock coat'.
