Scope & Content: On the back of this photograph John James Frowde writes, 'he relief of Mafeking celebration - see 1/4 plate pictures of various parts of procession taken from balcony in Windsor Rd. The naval reserve men (in this) with a gun, etc, etc. And Lord Kitchener personated by my good old friend Wetherall (who used to try to explain the habits of his bees, on his apiary near the Gooseneck). Lord Roberts was ... and the third Butler ... all on horseback, with broad brimmed 'scout' hats turned up and fastened at one side. 1900 (February) We had a huge Union Jack on the front of no 1 Windsor Road, hung from the two third floor bedroom windows. For 35 years it reposed in a press in the organ room at Windsor Rd, and functioned again for the King's Jubilee in 1935.'
