Murray Walker interviewing Ernst Degner and Hugh Anderson (Suzuki riders) 1963 TT (Tourist Trophy)
Date(s): 1963
Scope & Content: Hugh Anderson won the 1963 Ultra Lightweight Isle of Man Tourist Trophy (TT) and came second in the 50cc race. Ernst Degner finished third in the 1963 Ultra Lightweight. Both rode for Suzuki. Here they are seen being interviewed by Murray Walker.
Murray Walker had a lifelong connection to the Isle of Man, having first been brought to the Island aged two, when his father Graham was a TT racer. The TT soon became an obsession for the young Murray, who counted many of the greats such as Guthrie and Woods as 'uncles'. In 1935 dad Graham went to work for the BBC as a commentator and in 1949 Murray joined him as a commentator on the TT, going on to cover over 200 races here. He also commentated on Formula One, motocross and rallycross events.
For many TT fans, Murray Walker was the voice of the TT and he continued to be a part of the event almost until his death in 2021.
