Scope & Content: Contents include artwork, programmes, photographs of internees and a poem by Guilio Sambon, illustrated by Ettore Emanuelli, in memory of the men drowned on the Arandora Star written in 1941, a year after the vessel sank, accompanied by a translation by A. Emanuelli.
Administration / Biographical History: Ettorino Emanuelli (Hector Emanuelli), born in 1920, was the son of Italian immigrants to South Wales, At the start of the Second World War he was living in Stoke-on-Trent, working in the family ice-cream business. From 1940 he was interned in Peveril Camp, Peel for two years, based in Athol House, Marine Parade. He then was moved to Brixton prison to await the tribunal decision about his release and was freed five weeks later.
