Reminiscences of Herbert Crellin Cain

Scope & Content: The major part of these reminiscences record Cain's experiences when employed by the Ramsey Steamship Company between 1927 and 1936 and his involvement with a number of the 'Ben' boats (he lists the vessels). On the last page dates are given of his work experience. Refers to the Harbour Board, Dowty's, E B Christian and the Isle of Man Railway.

Administration / Biographical History: Herbert Crellin Cain was born in Liverpool on 13 January 1907. His family returned to the Isle of Man after the First World War. He attended school on the Island and served his engineering apprenticeship at Gellings Foundry. Cain's first job was at the Point of Ayre Gravel Works; subsequently he went to work for the Ramsey Steamship Company.
