The 'Leinster'

Scope & Content: In 1987 'Munster' and 'Leinster' were advertised by H&C McIver as commencing on the Liverpool - Douglas service at Easter. Isle of Man Steam Packet Company bought the steamers and scrapped them, thus preventing the new service starting. The RMS Leinster was torpedoed by a U boat in 1918, scattering mail bags and bodies along the southern coast of the Isle of Man.
