Scope & Content: Contents comprise a colour copy of a privately produced limited edition 2005 biographical profile 'Tom Morley 1892-1987' by his daughter in law Pamela Morley, copies of selected original letters between Tom and his wife Florrie on the Isle of Man and his scrapbook documenting his military service.. Administration / Biographical History: Tom Morley was born in Halifax, Yorkshire on 6 July 1892. He met his future wife in Yorkshire but with her family relocated to the Isle of Man, the couple wed in St Matthew's Church, Douglas in December 1915. Tom enlisted as a Bandsman in 25th Bn Middlesex Regiment in October 1915. He saw active service and also spent time as part of the Allied expeditioinary force sent to Russia to combat the Bolsehvik revolutionaries, serving alongside a Manxman Richard (Dickie) Quayle in Siberia. On return to the Island in 1919 Tom suffered serious ill health. A son and daughter were born to the couple. Tom's working life expanded to running a pipe shop and wholesale business at 14 North Quay, Douglas as well as the tenancy of the shop at No. 2, Prospect Hill, Douglas. He died on 13 August 1987, aged 95.
