'From Frien Barnet to Ballaugh: the story of Leicester Homan'

Scope & Content: Illustrated, anecdotal account of the years spent by Homan on the Isle of Man with notes on his background, lifestyle and bequests.
Administration / Biographical History: Homan purchased Ballaterson Beg and built Ballaterson Manor. He may have acted as interpreter at Knockaloe Alien Detention Camp and his surviving portrait might have been painted by an internee Schmidt (see MNH 2010-0060). Homan (1865-1948) died on 10 April 1948 at Queenscliffe Nursing Home, Quarterbridge Road, Douglas. The bulk of his estate went to Ramsey Cottage Hospital and Noble's Isle of Man Hospital.
