Scope & Content: Article by Dr George Broderick with accompanying documentation including genealogical resources showing his mother's ancestry and connection to John Lace, present on HMS Victory at the Battle of Trafalgar
The documentation includes photographs of Enid Church (nee Broderick) at the Trafalgar memorial, Douglas Head on which John Lace's name appears; also explanatory background notes extracted from emails from Dr George Broderick to Manx National Heritage, sent in April 2015. He describes a visit made in 1957 to his Uncle Jack and Auntie Jinnie (aunt to my father) with his parents, sister Enid, his Uncle Stan and family. 'Uncle Jack could speak some Manx, and it was he who inspired me to take up interest in Manx, which in turn led on to my embracing Celtic Studies'.
