Scope & Content: In his three page letter Hillary acknowledges recent receipt of Manby's letter dated 12 February and writes by return to inform him of the details of the imminent meeting, to be chaired by the Archbishop of Canterbury. He expects Manby will be satisfied to learn that 'this powerful and generous nation will at last have an Institution to save her brave Mariners from a terrible calamity' ; also that he will rejoice to learn that the King has agreed to be patron of the organisation while several other named peers have also taken honorary positions.
