Jurby West Wesleyan Chapel

Date(s): 1890-1920

Creator(s): Southward, Francis

Scope & Content: Opened in July 1843. Its design follows a similar format to Jurby East except the walls have only been whitewashed and not rendered. A porch of northside brick has been added to the front whilst there is a stone built extension to the rear. The railing set above the front wall would have been made by the local joiner and blacksmith as they comprise thin metal rods set into two parallel timber rails. This combination of materials was also used on gates as can be seen at Lezayre Church.
