50,000 VISITORS & 12 HOURS OF SUNSHINE MADE IT A SPANKIN’ BANK HOLIDAY
Everyone enjoyed Bank Holiday Monday in their own way. It could have been the influx of 6,000 day trippers. Or it might have been the 12 hours of sunshine...but whatever it was Douglas had IT on Monday.
All over the town holiday makers set out to make it a bumper Bank Holiday. On the beach the children’s laughter seemed just that bit louder. And the ringing of tills and cash registers was sweet music to those who had to work.
That was the way of it in Douglas on August bank Holiday. The Island was just about full with an estimated 50,000 visitors soaking up the sunshine, whilst other resorts in the North of England had a deluge of rain. And most of those 50,000 headed for the sands...
