Scope & Content: The Port Erin seawater open pool was very popular among the local youth who were hardened to the cold water. Galas were held every Wednesday through the summer, with diving, swimming events and fun events like the egg and spoon and balloon races. Visitors were encouraged to enter the weekly competitions, and potential bathing beauty entrants were selected from the beach and hotels.
