Date(s): 2004
Creator(s): Skillan, Helen
Scope & Content: Illustrated MA Manx Studies dissertation submitted to the University of Liverpool. The author studies and records the entire assemblage for a full decryption and interpretation of the tiles found at Rushen Abbey, Malew. One of the main purposes of the research was to provide Manx National Heritage with a catalogue of the Manx medieval floor tiles. She concludes that a small percentage of the tiles were unique to the Isle of Man whilst others were similar to Birkenhead Priory, Norton Priory, Chester, Montgomery Castle, Wales and Drogeheda, Ireland. Appendices include tile data list and metrical and descriptive tile data.
