Scope & Content: Mr and Mrs Fitzmorris were passengers and Mr Cullen the pilot on a Portuguese ship in Derbyhaven which was called upon for assistance, regarding the wreck at Derbyhaven of the ship 'Benit' of St Martins on 25 December 1744 on a journey from France with the subsequent loss of a cargo of brandy. The petition, on behalf of George Moore of Peeltown and the Assurers alledges 'misconduct and mismanagement' by Anthony Maillet 'in his duty as master of the said ship'. Sets out a list of question to be 'propounded' to Mr and Mrs Fitzmorris and Mr Cullen.
