Administration / Biographical History: Nick Johnson from the Centre of Manx Studies requested metal detecting to be carried out in fields in the vicinity of the town of Peel. Two adjoining fields at Ballaterson were explored by five detector users over two days.
Just over 286 items were recovered, including non-ferrous everyday items belonging to the early/later Victorian era and a small number of worked flints including ‘several large worked blades’. The metal items included: coins, lead fragments, horse-riding equipment, buttons, dog licences, cutlery, lead toys and a copper chain.
