Administration / Biographical History: The first winter lectures season at the Manx Museum ran from November 1923 until March 1924 and was advertised as free lantern lectures, commencing promptly at 7pm, 'concluding in time to take the 9 o'clock train and tram'. Speakers and topics in the first season included Archibald Knox (Celtic architecture), Professor R H Kinvig (the racial origins of the Celtic people) and J J Kneen (the Baronial Territories of the Bishop of Sodor and Mann and the Isles).
Until the 2010s the series of winter lectures offered at the museum was a staple of public programming through the winter months.
