Scope & Content: Contents comprise research and literary papers of this reporter, editor, journalist and author. Texts include but are not limited to Kelly's original typescript draft of 'The Deep and the Brave: a biography of Sir William Hillary Bart' (before being cut and rewritten: see 'For those in Peril: the Life and Times of Sir William Hillary, the Founder of the RNLI', 1979); draft of unpublished book 'Miles of Smiles. Humour in the Isle of Man' with suggested illustrations; Kelly's script for a Douglas Choral Union scanner appeal concert at the Gaiety Theatre and accompanying DCU resources; assorted children's stories; a five page synopsis and partial typescript drafts of text planned as a trilogy of historical novels variously entitled 'Triskelion', 'Triskele' and 'Mark Astley's Journals'. Subject matter of Kelly's amassed research resources include but are not limited to newsprint media in the Isle of Man; Manx Mart and Manx Life publication proposals and costings; radio wireless broadcasting on the Isle of Man (including Manx Radio and Radio Caroline); cinema, film and broadcast media including Manx Television; theatre and light entertainment venues; aviation and aviators (including email from the grand-daughter of Oscar Garden) and Manx Star reporting on RAF Jurby, 27 December 1975 - photographic illustrations are held in Robert Kelly's photographic collection at PG/15203.

Administration / Biographical History: Robert Charles Kelly was born on 19 May 1940. A reporter, editor and author, married to Linda who predecesased him, he died on 13 November 2018 aged 78. Robert was a member of the Isle of Man Anti-Cancer Association's Scanner Appeal Committee.
