Scope & Content: Track 1: Mr and Mrs Saxon talk to John Beckerson, from their home in Stockport, about their holidays in the Isle of Man. Margaret (maternal grandfather was Manx) talks about her mother visiting the Isle of Man when she was a baby and then Margaret visiting every summer; staying at the Balmoral, Ramsey run by Mr and Mrs Kinrade; Water’s Edge run by Mrs MacDonald near Queen’s Pier; experience of being on holiday in the Isle of Man when Second World War broke out; staying on farm in St Jude’s in 1942 and organising rations; Mooragh lake rowing boats; swimming; horse riding; guesthouse rooms; maids from Ireland and meals served in each private sitting room; going to Ballure Mount guesthouse run by Mrs Storey in 1950s; honeymoon in 1942 staying in Port y Vullen Hotel; holidaying in Ballaqueeney, Port St Mary; visiting the Teare owned farms; staying at Ramsey Hydro in the mid-1930s; visiting fish shop in Ramsey; photograph taken in the Midwood studio, Ramsey; visiting Laxey Wheel; comparing Isle of Man holidays to those in North Wales; charabanc trips from Ramsey as a child including tea at Rushen Abbey; buying crabs in Port Erin; watching the herring girls in Peel; staying with Mrs Storey at Ballure Mount; taking the steam train to St Johns to Glen Helen; electric tram from Ramsey to Douglas; going to Mr Good’s Pierrot show; bringing their car to the Island in 1950s; from 1959 going to Europe on foreign holidays instead of the Isle of Man; Douglas as noisy and crowded; brass band in Mooragh park on Sundays; holidaying for 6 weeks in Ramsey as a child.

Track 2: They talk about the rough boat crossing to the Isle of Man for their honeymoon; and they describe how they met at university in Manchester.
