Scope & Content: Illustrated dissertation submitted towards MA degree in Archaeology and Heritage, University of Leicester. The author assesses the merits of providing interpretation facilities for the archaeological, cultural and natural heritage of a river valley and hinterland, at a historic house owned by a private trust (Milntown Estate, Glen Auldyn, Isle of Man). He outlines the trust's background and heritage credentials and explains the relationship between the historic house and the study area. A description is given of the archaeological, cultural and natural heritage of the area. Value judgements relating to archaeological sites and best practice are reviewed. Details of the consultation process with local residents and landowners and key institutional stakeholders are outlined. Suggestions are made for future research and conclusions drawn as to whether the trust should proceed and on what basis.
