Social gathering with tea and chatter about cooking of pies and bonnag (Manx cake) for chapel; John Quilliam preaching; Glen Cam farm; memory of hearing Santon, Malew and Arbory church bells ringing in the First World War; man who lived in Foxdale and came to chapel; ‘Vinegar Hill’, Foxdale; Gladys Hudson and Nellie Quirk; watching domestic ‘fights’ in Grenaby; man in hospital; recent death of Johnny Crawley; potatoes and herring; Jonathan, young child, at the gathering having fallen asleep.
